The best way to learn from your heroes (especially if they're dead) is to copy them.

[left] is a portion of Leyendecker's work I found online (unedited) and [right] my attempt to copy it using Photoshop. I traced the basic silhouette, everything else was done free hand with the image at the left side. I did get a little lazy with that weird rose on her chest.

Going to Pixar studios today was really inspiring. Even though we just walked around the 2nd story and looked at concept art and clay figures mainly for display so the media have something to put in the background, being there was enough. We didn't leave the main building, but there was enough to keep us occupied for 2 hours. I got to see their server room as well as the construction site for their new building. Our guide was amazingly nice and super well informed about everything and everybody. I came back and doodled some.

I am in the process of creating sprite animation for a game. I did some potential attack combos today in Flash to get a good feel for the beat. I'm happy with the results except I forgot the height line for reference so my character shrinks a bit. 8(

This is my chair design Little Bastard cuz it was a B***H TO MAKE!!! I thank Prisco and Beans for volunteering their time to become my slaves for a whole two days to help me finish it. I wouldn't have been able to if they didn't. dimensions are about 2ft wide and 14in tall. It's about 74 pieces top and 66 pieces bottom. total of over 100 pieces of cardboard CUT BY HAND and over 30 - 40 hours of effort put in between 3 people.

My friend didn't take very good pictures but there are a number of uses for it. You can sit on or in it. use it as a table and it's heavy duty enough to stand on. My teacher and classmates were impressed and like the design, so I think I'm in the safe zone. I can't wait to get it back so i can fcking USE IT FOREVER.

Dino-dragon-thing chair

The objection of my next project is to make a personal stool/chair entirely out of cardboard with 3 main uses. Mine happens to be a dragon-dinosaur-gator skull. hehe. It perfect for me because I like cute vicious things and fits my lifestyle cuz it's a perfect little chair for me to play videogames with. It can double as a taller stool or a table top. I've already completed a paper sketch model and quarter-scale retardo model. Now working on the full scale template and about to do the cutting. CUTE!! *please note spiderman is NOT a quarter-scale of a person*

The objective of this project is to create a pattern that repeats and when put together creates a cube with triangles on the inside that fits together, like teeth. This is my prototype. There is another way to make it even more complicated by dividing the cube into 3 parts. Next time.

Amusing: Awhile ago I got this triangle from the teacher with a post-it on it, someone thought it was mine. It was actually left by someone else from another class days ago on my desk but I didn't pay attention to it. I only took the triangle this time because of the post-it that was on it, probably by a TA, trying to describe me.

Not Amused: You know, I never got sick when I DIDN'T get a flu shot.

These are previous projects I didn't get a chance to upload before. I designed CFL lightbulb packaging. Requirements were it had to be made out of a single piece and recyclable material. Worked on the design between 3am - 7am, haha. I was late for class, but i would've gotten an A.

This is poster design i made for our first project, research on a studio of your choice (sort of). We had to make a booklet and matching poster, 17x22 mounted on foam board. This class costing too much money...

Been a while. Having a hard time keeping up with DAI classes. I've never had classes that involved such physical labor. Every week I pull and all-nighter, and at the end of each too tired to do what I want to do. It's frustrating, satisfying, and exhausting. I always want to give up, yet somehow managed to finish my projects. Please have a look at my latest finished one I actually kind of like. It is 2010 calender with Japanese culture theme. Each image is an activity related to the season/month they are placed in. Minor details i missed are: the actually 2010 year, Mickey is too blended into the background, and there is a transparent leaf in Autumn.

On a last note. Kinko's was a terrifying yet enlightening experience. I learned you have to pay 25 cents per minute to use the computer to open your .PDF for printing. Despite that, Their mounting service is very impressive. Therefore, NEVER PRINT AT KINKO'S, but if you want mounting done, they do okay.

Edit: i want to point out Kinko's refunded the minutes, but still retarded.

If you ever want to melt your hands then take Natata's Rapid Viz class. 10 weeks of intense drawing will set them on fire. Anyway, here is a preview of my final presentation drawings. The challenge was to think up a cellphone that is also a wallet. These are my two final ones. the Zen and the Sigg. SLICK, eh? would you buy these? Zen is more modern while Sigg is with steampunk flair. :)

Finally, two weeks into summer break and I get some doodling done. Very rusty indeed. I have a few projects going on which include concept art for games and a comic. Not to mention my personal projects that I have been neglecting...BAH, I like to draw men.
